Bridgeport Concert Venues: A Complete Guide

Updated June 2026 · 7 min read

The short version

Connecticut's largest city has the widest range of room sizes anywhere in the state: the Total Mortgage Arena (~10,000) for big tours, the harbor-side Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater (~5,700) for summer shows, the historic Art Deco Klein Memorial (~1,400) for symphony and seated concerts, and the intimate 200-seat Bijou Theatre — one of the oldest operating theaters in America.

Bridgeport doesn't always get its due as a music city, but Connecticut's biggest population center quietly holds the most complete spread of venues in the state — from a 10,000-seat arena down to a 200-seat room with cabaret tables, all within a few minutes of downtown. Here's the full map.

Total Mortgage Arena (~10,000)

The Total Mortgage Arena — opened in 2001 and known over the years as the Arena at Harbor Yard and the Webster Bank Arena — is the biggest indoor room in Fairfield County, seating around 10,000 for concerts. It's the area's home for arena-level touring acts, family shows, and sports, sitting right downtown next to the train station and I-95.

Best for: major touring headliners and big production shows.

Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater (~5,700)

One of the newest and most scenic venues in the state, the Hartford HealthCare Amphitheater opened in 2021 on the site of the former Harbor Yard ballpark, right on Bridgeport harbor. The roughly 5,700-capacity, partially covered amphitheater runs a busy spring-through-fall season, and the waterfront setting makes it one of the best places in Connecticut to catch a summer show.

Best for: scenic, mid-size summer concerts by the water.

The Klein Memorial Auditorium (~1,400)

Opened in 1940 and funded by a bequest from Bridgeport lawyer Jacob Klein, the Klein is a gorgeous Art Deco hall at 910 Fairfield Avenue, seating around 1,400. It has hosted everyone from Leonard Bernstein and Arthur Fiedler to Martin Luther King Jr. over the decades, and has been the home of the Greater Bridgeport Symphony Orchestra for more than half a century. Today it books concerts, comedy, and community events in a room with real history.

Best for: seated concerts, symphony, and comedy in a historic hall.

The Bijou Theatre (~200)

At the other end of the scale, the Bijou Theatre at 275 Fairfield Avenue is a jewel box. Opened in 1909, it bills itself as the oldest building in America that opened as a combined movie and live-performance space and still operates as one. Reopened in 2011 after restoration, it seats about 200 across theater rows and cabaret tables, programming independent film, live music, and comedy in a genuinely intimate setting.

Best for: up-close shows, film, and cabaret nights.
