Fairfield Theatre Company: StageOne & The Warehouse

Updated June 2026 · 5 min read

The short version

Fairfield Theatre Company (FTC) is a nonprofit in downtown Fairfield running two of Fairfield County's best intimate rooms: StageOne (a 225-seat listening room) and The Warehouse (a 640-capacity, configurable space). Together they punch well above their size, booking top Americana, indie, rock, and singer-songwriter acts.

For a town its size, Fairfield has a remarkable live-music operation — and it's all run by one nonprofit. FTC has spent two decades building a reputation for excellent bookings in rooms where every seat is close.

StageOne (225 seats)

FTC moved to its current home at 70 Sanford Street in 2004 and soon opened StageOne, a 225-seat black-box listening room. It's the intimate end of the operation — a quiet, attentive space that's hosted world-class artists like Buddy Guy, Taj Mahal, and Los Lobos. For a close, focused show, there are few better rooms in the county.

Best for: intimate, listening-focused shows by name artists.

The Warehouse (640 capacity)

As FTC outgrew StageOne, it opened The Warehouse in 2015 — a 640-capacity, highly configurable performance space (longtime locals knew the building as the old Rec Center). The flexibility lets it run seated theater shows or standing general-admission nights, which means it can land bigger touring acts than StageOne while keeping that intimate FTC feel. The two rooms together give Fairfield real range.

Best for: larger touring shows that still feel close.
