Country Music in Connecticut

Updated June 2026 · 5 min read

The short version

Connecticut may not be Nashville, but country fans are well served. The biggest tours hit The Meadows Music Theatre amphitheater in summer and the Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods arenas year-round; the Oakdale in Wallingford handles large indoor shows; and Comix Roadhouse at Mohegan Sun is the state's go-to country bar, with live bands, line dancing, and a mechanical bull.

Country has become one of touring music's biggest draws, and Connecticut's larger rooms reflect that. Whether you want a stadium-scale headliner or a boot-stomping night of regional bands, here's where to find it.

Big country tours: amphitheater & arenas

The marquee country tours follow the same path as the biggest pop and rock acts. In summer, they play The Meadows Music Theatre — the Hartford amphitheater that holds up to ~30,000. Year-round, the Mohegan Sun Arena (~10,000) and Foxwoods bring arena-level country to the southeast, and the Toyota Oakdale Theatre in Wallingford (~4,800) hosts large indoor shows.

Best for: the biggest country headliners.

Comix Roadhouse: Connecticut's country bar

For the honky-tonk experience, Comix Roadhouse at Mohegan Sun is the closest thing the state has. The roadhouse stage features live, local and regional country music every Friday and Saturday, plus karaoke on Thursdays, a mechanical bull, line dancing, the Roadhouse Dancers, and Texas-style barbecue. It's open Thursday through Sunday next to the Mohegan Sun Arena box office — an easy, lively night out.

Best for: live regional country, dancing, and a boot-stomping night.

Theaters & smaller rooms

Country and Americana also turn up across Connecticut's theaters and listening rooms. Intimate halls like Infinity Music Hall and The Kate regularly book Americana, bluegrass, and singer-songwriter country, and the state's historic theaters host country and crossover tours. For the smallest rooms, see our best small venues guide.

Best for: Americana, bluegrass, and country in an intimate setting.
